Question: Are the Bones producers approaching the upcoming eighth season as the show’s last? —Robert
Ausiello: Hell no. “I could see Season 9 or 10 being the last,” says series creator Hart Hanson. “But definitely not [Season 8]. Post Booth and Brennan being together, there’s a good three seasons [of story] left.”

Question: Can you tell us anything about the upcoming Bones episode (one of the extras, I believe) “The Gunk in the Garage”? —Ed Z
Ausiello: Mind if I instead share deets on another of the four bonus eps, “Patriot in the Purgatory”? Judging by how vigorously you’re nodding in my imagination, I’m going to say you don‘t mind. That being the case, I’ll tell you what series creator Hart Hanson tells me — that the sure-to-be-powerful hour has been eight years in the making. “We’ve been contending with how to do a 9/11 episode since the show premiered,” he says. “And no story [idea that we came up with] was in any way satisfying. And you don’t want to be exploitive. But then we had an idea that had almost all of the squinterns working together. Basically, they’re going through the backlog of unidentified remains and come across remains that link to 9/11. It’s really [interesting] to watch all those guys – just the guys, not Daisy – interact with each other, because they never do.”

I can't believe that Brennan is on the run after the Bones finale. How will the writers resolve that in the premiere next season?
ADAM: Ask yourself this: Should the writers resolve it? After all, based on the footage we saw of bad boy Pelant doing something to Booth's alarm clock, we're pretty sure anywhere else is safer than Casa Bones. But you can be certain this battle of wits is just beginning. "We wanted to keep our serial killer alive to keep the procedural element of the show in the forefront," executive producer Stephen Nathan says. "I don't like serial killers, but Pelant is close to our hearts. He's someone we want to keep around for quite a while."

Monday’s Bones finale wasn’t as game-changey as last season’s baby bombshell-themed climax, but it still packed a rather fierce punch. In case you missed it (as if!), evil mastermind Christopher Pelant framed Brennan for murder. But rather than stick around and wait for the “hacktivist” to further incriminate her, the new mom ditched Booth and went on the lam with daughter Christine. Here, series creator Hart Hanson tackles key questions from the episode and offers a very early sneak peek at Season 8.

TVLINE | Will there be a significant time jump between seasons?
It always works for us to have the same amount of time pass for our characters as it did for our audience, and I believe we will be very close to that again. A couple of months will have gone by.

TVLINE | Will Brennan have been a fugitive for that length of time?
Here’s what I’ll say: There is an arrest warrant out for her and she is avoiding that warrant. If she gets [arrested and] gets into the system, then Pelant can do anything he wants to her, which would be pretty terrible. So she’s outside the system in that time, with the help of her dad.

TVLINE | How many episodes will this play out in next fall?
It will be many episodes before the Pelant story is resolved. I think we will have Brennan and Booth back together — and her back working at the Jeffersonian — by the end of the first episode. I don’t know if I want to say that or not, but I just did. [Laughs]

TVLINE | Is he going to be pissed? She just ran off with his daughter!
She’s in a huge pickle, and I think Booth recognizes that as well. If she told him that she was going to evade an arrest warrant, that would be it for him; he would not be able to remain an FBI agent.  So that was a kindness not to tell him. It also makes sense to her rationally, which is he has to catch Pelant. They’re not mad at each other. They’re facing a situation together.

TVLINE | Is she going to have any assistance while on the run, aside from her dad?
The question is who is in on it with her and who is not. As we set up in the finale, everyone she works with [takes a position]. Does that continue? Who is, in fact, an accomplice to her. And who is, in fact, maintaining a professional, objective attitude. You need both of those things to survive Pelant, and perhaps even catch him.

TVLINE | Did he put a bomb in the clock?
[Laughs] I will never tell you. What the hell was he doing in the house?! You’ll have to tune in and find out.

TVLINE | Regarding the four standalone bonus episodes, I imagine they can’t air at the start of the season since you’d have a major continuity issue with Brennan’s disappearance.
We’re counting on them airing one or two of them early in the season, but it won’t be the premiere. And I doubt it would be the second episode. We might be able to get away with airing one of them in the third or fourth spot. But beyond that I don’t know.

In Bones  Season 7 Finale “The Past in the Present,” serial killer Christopher Pelant (Andrew Leeds) ends up back in court, but Brennan(Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) inform the judge that he is a suspect in two murder cases to keep Pelant behind bars where he belongs.

Our duo is thrown for a loop when they come across a new murder and discover the victim is a friend of Brennan and also is linked to Pelant. This fuels the Jeffersonian team to prove that the evil genius is guilty once and for all. But when key evidence points to Brennan, and suspicion falls on her, what’s the team to do?

Just days after the cast wrapped their season finale, Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Tamara Taylor (Cam) to find out whatDavid Boreanaz claims will make fans “not happy” and whose future we really should be worried about.

Is the season finale a big shocker?
I would have to say, this time, yes.  We usually don’t end with a cliffhanger, and this year we do.

I remember David saying fans are not going to be happy. What does that mean?
This one’s a shocker. I don’t want to hype it too much but it’s more of a shocker than we usually do.

As far as relationships or the murder mystery?

The combination. Yeah. It’s an interesting, delicious combination. I think it’s probably one of my favorite season finales. Very emotional.

Does Cam have play a big part in the finale?
Yes. Actually, every single one of us does. It’s a really high-stakes whodunit. Big stuff is on the line and we’re all involved.

Is someone in danger in this finale?

Yes.

To the point where the cast is wondering who’ll get a phone call over summer saying they don’t have to come back?
No. For obvious reasons, you’ll get why no one is getting a call over summer. I don’t think that’s gonna go down. But it’s a lot more than we’ve dealt with in the past, I think. And everybody is involved. Everybody is touched by it. And everyone is potentially in danger – and they can’t kill off the entire cast.  But everybody is in on this one. It’s going to be interesting to see how they resolve this.

Ausiello: David Boreanaz got a major kick out of watching another actor — in this case Entourage‘s Jordan Belfi — inhabit Booth. “He really enjoyed seeing me play the role,” says Belfi, whose character gets cast as Booth’s big-screen alter ego, Special Agent Andy Lister, in the movie-within-the-TV show (hilariously titledBone of Contention). “It’s not like I’m doing an impression of [David], but I’m playing a guy who thinks Booth is the man. He thinks he’s an action star. My character literally says to Booth, ‘You’re like Steve McQueen, man — I’ve got to do you justice.’ He’s an overly enthusiastic actor who wants to do justice to what he perceives as the rugged masculinity and action star qualities that Booth has.” Belfi says the episode is “so meta it almost folds in on itself,” adding, “It’s a really fun episode. Bones has this light touch anyway, but there’s a lot of comedy in it.”
